Linux Systems Administrator

BetterServers is currently looking for a Linux Systems Administrator. The most qualified applicants will be experienced in:

  • Managing RHEL/CentOS based distributions
  • Working with Linux in a SAN environment
  • Perl Programming
  • Bash scripting
  • Building RPMs
  • Virtualization (KVM and Xen)
  • LVM storage management
  • Software RAID
  • Basic kernel maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Basic enterprise networking (VLANs, routing, subnetting)
  • Systems security (iptables, authentication schemes, selinux, file permissions)
  • A broad range of common software (mysql, Apache, BIND, etc)

The following skills would be advantageous:

  • Cfengine experience
  • experience using a version control system (git, cvs, subversion)
  • Familiarity with Infiniband, Fibre Channel, and SAS networks
  • Hands-on Solaris experience
  • Familiarity with Java
  • Self-driven and capable of pushing through roadblocks
  • Capable of working independently
  • Good documentation habits
  • Good critical thinking, problem solving skills
